Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the familiar 52-card standard deck and a single joker. The gambler is assigned seven cards face up and the house gets seven cards face down.
One five card hand and one 2 card hand have to be put together from the 7 cards dealt, the five card hand has to be higher than the 2 card hand. To win, a player is required to have both of his hand values to be larger than the houses.
