Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world may be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found gambling on online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
