No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
