Before you Tilt

Ah, the poker steam. If a poker player claims never to have looked down the shadow of an upcoming steam – they are either telling a lie or they have not been playing long enough. This does not mean obviously that everyone has been on tilt before, a number of players have awesome control and take their losses as a hit and keep it at that. To be a good poker player, it’s extremely critical to treat your successes and your losses in a similar way – with no emotion. You compete in the match the same way you did following a hard loss like you would after winning a big hand. All poker masters are not tempted by tilting after a horrible defeat as they are highly experienced and you should be to.

You must be aware that you will not win every hand you are in, regardless if you are strongly favored. Hands which usually cause people go on tilt are hands you were the favored or at a minimum thought you were until you were hit and you squandered a big chunk of your bankroll. Awful defeats are bound to happen. Accept that fact right now, I will say it once again – if your siblings play cards, if your parents enjoy cards, if your grandpa enjoys cards – We all have bad losses sometime. It is an inevitable experience of participating in Holdem, or for that matter any kind of poker.

After all we are assumingly (nearly all of us) in the game for a single reason – to acquire a profit, it does make sense that we will wager appropriately to maximize our profit potential. Now let’s say you are up one hundred dollars off of a $100 deposit, and you suffer a big hit in a No Limits game and your stack is down to $120. You have lost $80 in a hand where you should have picked up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and had a 10 – 1 advantage. And that fiend! He sucked you out on the river? – Well hold it right there. This is a quintessential opportunity for a fresh gambler to begin tilting. They just blew too much money on one hand that they should have won and they’re angry
